Department of Posts

On the request of the Postal Department, IASSL undertook a study last year to estimate the cost of various products and services. The inception report, which outlines the proposed methodology for cost estimation, was presented on 7th October 2024, at the Department of Post. The formal agreement between IASSL and the DOP was signed on 13th December 2024.

Data collection for the unit cost estimation is done by a census, a sample survey and referring existing documents. In the census, postmasters are requested to fill a form while a survey is conducted at randomly selected post offices mainly to estimate the number of letters. Several training programs for postmasters and relevant high officials are conducted to make aware them about the census and the survey. It is expected to complete the project by November 2025.
